EClass Participant Instructions

How Do I join an EClass?
1. Directly from the Email Invitation – When an EClass is scheduled by the instructor, you get an invitation to your mail regarding the EClass details and your credentials. There is also a link in the Email to join the eclass. Click on this link at the eclass time to join the eclass.
2. Click on the link provided in email, i.e http://www.strixel.com/EClassrooms/EClassLogin.aspx
The Initial page will be like this, showing all the subjects details:

Select the appropriate Course and click the “Submit” button. You will be taken to that particular Eclass Page.
1. This is the participant status box. Currently active participants who are logged in are displayed here. As soon as a participant leaves or enters the class , his status is displayed here.
2. This is your broadcaster. If you want to broadcast you need to ask the instructor permission to allow you to do so. When you are given permission then this broadcaster becomes active and you can now broadcast.
3. This the participant player. If some other participant broadcasts his video by obtaining the instructor permission, then his video plays here. Right now in the image since there is no one broadcasting , the player is active. If someone is broadcasting, the player becomes active and “No Video is available now” message disappears.
4. This is the Instructor player. Video from the Instructor is displayed here. Since the instructor broadcasts continuously , this player is always active.
5. This is the Online Chat window. To chat, just enter text in the box beside Message and click the “Send” button. Your text is displayed in the box against your name. This chat is real time and instantaneous.
6. This is the “Raise Hand” functionality. It is from here that you ask the Instructor permission to let you stream video. Just enter text in the box asking the instructor for permission and click “Submit”. You get an acknowledgment as shown – “Request posted Successfully” .
7. All the requests from you and any other requests from the other active participants are shown here. As soon as a request is posted its status is shown under Access as Open. If the Instructor grants you permission the Status becomes Started and you get a message confirming the same. Your broadcaster also becomes active as shown below.
Important Note : In case the Instructor denies your request the status changes to “Ended” and you get a confirmation regarding the rejection.

To start sending your audio and video click on connect on your player. A list of cameras connected to your computer are displayed.
Select the Camera you would like to use from the list and click it.

Important Note : Wait till the image from that camera is displayed and then click on Start Broadcast. You are LIVE now !! The other participants can now view your audio and video.

FAQ's:

Do I need to download any software?
No. The solution is completely Browser based. All you need is an Internet connection and the web browser along with a web cam to participate.
What hardware do I need to participate in an EClass?
All you need is a set of speakers or Headphones and a web camera.
Do the participants need to have an account with Strixel?
No! Only the instructor needs to have an account with us. All the participants can join directly using their credentials.
How Do I join an EClass?

IMP NOTE : First remember to disable the pop-up blocker else you need to follow the steps again.
Even after I click connect on the player , I cannot see any image. What do I do?
Your computer might not be allowing Flash Player to access the camera. Follow the steps below :
1. Right Click on the big player in the middle.
2. Click on Settings . . . in the resulting menu
3. Click the second Image from the left on the bottom.
4. This brings up the privacy settings of the Flash Player.
5. If your Computer is not allowing Strixel to access the Computer and Microphone, the Deny option is checked. Click on the Allow option.
6. Refresh the Page and try again.
The other participants are not able to hear my voice.
The Flash Player might not have detected your Microphone.Follow the steps below.
1. Right Click on the big player in the middle.
2. Click on Settings . . . in the resulting menu
3. Click the Mike Image (Fourth from left) on the bottom.
4. This brings up the Microphone Settings of the Flash Player.
5. Select the appropriate Microphone from the list.
6. Move the slider under the Record Volume to the middle and select the Reduce Echo box.
7. Refresh the page and try again.
I have selected the Camera. I can see my image but the other participants cannot. Why?
After you see the image, the Connect button becomes Disconnect meaning that you are connected to the server. Now Click Start Broadcast to send your image. Now the participants can view your image.
